I love broadcasting, I started in radio Nigeria-Ibadan as their yearly Father Christmas, Ibadan national station, I worked with them for almost eight years, and I freelanced with them at the same time, I later joined the production, then presentation, I presented about seven programmes in a week then, I have been a musician before joining F.R.C.N, I have been producing music but I was not a performing musician, I used to produce musical jingles, station ident., programme theme music when I was working as a broadcaster until the accident time in December 12 1997, a friend of mine and a brother, Otunba Kola Olootu, gave me an advise that I should put some of my songs together and launch it for myself and realize some funds to go for further treatment abroad.
Eventually I did it, I released 'Bitter Experience' as my first album to raise fund, I never knew I will end up a musician . I was thinking I would go back to my broadcasting after the treatment.
When I came back, I released another album titled 'Sweet Experience' to appreciate those who supported me. The acceptance was so huge and I proceeded to do the third one, and from there, I realized that the music thing is more profitable than broadcast world.
As at that time, I didn't have a band, it was after sweet experience that I organized some guys to work with me, although, I have been a member of boys brigade where I played saxophone and trumpet before I came into broadcasting. I use to have a small company then, it was called Ayefele the merry maker. So when I was trying to set up my own band, I didn't want to lose that name, so I just decided to use Yinka Ayefele and the merry maker's band.
My musical career rose from the Bitter experience, 17years ago, but I have been performing as a guitarist and as backup for some artistes in the past like Uncle Toye Ajagun, I was his tenor guitarist, I played with Micho Ade, we started his band together, and with Wale Thompson and I also played for churches as well. I still play musical instruments like guitar, especially bass guitar, trumpet, keyboard and saxophone.
I do get some musical inspirations while on stage , I also have people who gives me songs, like my younger brother Laolu Ayefele and Uncle Lai Adiss, also in my band I have Kayode Emmanuel, I don't want to limit my production to just what I am capable of doing, so that I won't sound monotonous. So that is why I involved some people to work for me especially on composition, I draw my own inspiration while on stage, seeing people around me, but if I don't record it, I will forget it.
I Love Broadcasting and I have Passion For It but music took me away. I s till present in my radio station.
Am working on my latest album for the year 2014. You know, I just lost my father and I need to immortalize him because I love him. By the grace of God, the album will be out, first week of December, 2014.
We would have make the launching of this latest album glamorously but because of my father's burial, we are just planning to release it officially, the official public presentation is going to be on the 8th of December, 2014.
