Ahead of the Kogi governorship election, a former gubernatorial aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Comrade Mohammed Ali has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ali, who is also the national chairman of the Northern Local Government Chairmen Forum (NLGCF), led 14 former local government council chairmen in the state, their ward councilors, five special advisers, 11 senior special assistants and 25 special assistants to the ruling party.
According to a statement announcing their defection on Monday, November 17, Ali said they went through with the move after careful considerations and consultations with stakeholders, noting that their aspirations to serve the people and Nigerians can only be actualised in the APC.
Meanwhile, the Kogi state court of appeal has ordered Governor Idris Wada, to re-instate the 21 local government chairmen of the state or be found guilty of contempt of court.
Pulse recalls that on October 23, 2015, the same court had set aside the judgment of the High Court of Justice, Koton Karfe, Kogi State which had removed all the 21 Local Government Council chairmen along with the entire democratic structures from office on December 8, 2014.
