On Saturday, the new Ooni of Ife – Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi married a new wife…
If you noticed from the pictures of the traditional wedding festivities which went down in Benin, Edo state, one very important person was missing… The Ooni himself. Many were left wondering why he didn't attend his own wedding and we have answers to that.
Oba Ogunwusi did not attend the wedding because according to tradition a "king does not a seek a wife. A wife is taken to him"….
And guess what? Wuraola Zynab Otiti's bride price was? N25…ONLY!
Meanwhile, shortly after the marriage rites were concluded in Benin city, Edo state, the new bride was taken to Ile Ife to meet her husband, the king at his palace.
Meet the Oba & his Olori.
