Senate President, David Mark, on Wednesday night, at the Presidential villa, Abuja, brokered peace between the old members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State, led by the sacked Chairman, Mr. Ebenezer Alabi and the new members led by Governor Olusegun Mimiko.
Our correspondent learnt that the peace was achieved after Mark held a marathon meeting with the leaders of the party in the state which included Mimiko, Chief Bode Olajumoke; Olusola Oke; Kingsley Kuku; Gbenga Elegbeleye; Senator Ayo Akinyelure; Sen. Boluwaji Kunlere; Kolawole Ademujimi; Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim and Chief Sola Ebiseni, among others.
It was learnt that the meeting resolved that the Mimiko led new PDP would produce two out of the three candidates contesting the senatorial seat in the forthcoming general elections while the Alabi-led executive would produce one.
The meeting also conceeded five out of the nine House of Representatives seats to Mimiko while the Alabi led group was asked to produce the remaining four for the election.
Similarly, Mimiko's group had been given the opportunity to present 18 candidates for the House of Assembly election while the Alabi group was given eight seats in the 26-member state legislature.
The source, who pleaded anonymity, explained that both parties assured the senate president of their commitment to the peace agreement in the interest of peace and development.
The source said, "The meeting was very successful. All parties have agreed to go back home and work for the success of the party. In fact, Ebenezer Alabi, the sacked chairman of the party executive in the state, had pledged to withdraw his suit against the National Working Committee of the PDP"
Mark, who is the Chairman, PDP Re-integration Committee of the South West, in a statement on Thursday, commended stakeholders in the Ondo PDP for allowing a seamless reconciliation and integration in the party. He noted that the six-hour meeting with the stakeholders at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, ended peacefully.
He therefore urged the party members to work as one for the victory of the PDP in all the 2015 elections.
According to him, "It is in unity that we can deliver all our candidates in the elections. We must therefore work together to ensure victory for President Goodluck Jonathan and other members of our great party in Ondo State.
"I must state that the seamless reconciliation and integration we have achieved here will reverberate in the entire South-West and all over our nation.
"I therefore urge you all to vacate the cases in court and allow this reconciliation to bring forth good governance and strength to our party in admiration of all the people of Ondo State."
Mimiko on the occasion, assured stakeholders across board of his readiness to work with every member of the party in the old PDP as well as the old Labour Party in order to achieve a common feat of delivering the votes to President Jonathan in the 2015 Presidential elections.
He assured the party members that he will be transparent in his leadership adding that Ondo PDP will be one, united and indivisible.
He urged stakeholders to take all cases out of court.
The meeting resolved on the distribution of various offices and agreed to settle all cases out of courts.
