At Last, President Buhari signs 2016 budget into law on Friday

President Muhammadu Buhari will reportedly sign the 2016 Appropriation Bill into law on Friday, May 6. Speaking with a source, who pleaded for anonymity, said that Buhari was "ready" to sign the budget today Friday.
According to him, a clean copy has already been sent to the presidency from the National Assembly. "All things being equal, the president will on Friday assent the 2016 budget." "The two committees have finished their work and a clean copy is now with the presidency," he said.

The budget which has been an issue of serious debate in the past few months, was said to have been returned to the lawmakers on Tuesday, May 3, after it emerged that the president was still unhappy with some of its contents. The 2016 appropriation bill was returned for further legislative work as principal officers and members of the review committee from both legislative chambers met for about two hours on Tuesday evening. Meanwhile, Khadija Abba Ibrahim, the minister of state for foreign affairs, has disclosed the details of the 2016 budget projects and plans for their implementation. Ibrahim said that the ministry of budget and national planning presented 34 strategic priority programmes to council for discussion.
The projects were grouped into four major objectives (policy, governance and security; diversification of the economy; creating support for the poor and the vulnerable; reflecting the economy through investment) and were reportedly approved for implementation
